Terraland lets people buy shares in income-generating real estate with cryptocurrency, with each share represented by a token. Over almost two years EMBIQ designed and built the web platform and its backend, connected it to KYC and smart contracts, and kept it working as the product moved from Ethereum test networks to another public blockchain and then to EVM networks with MetaMask.

Terraland wanted to let people invest in rental real estate using cryptocurrency: a user buys a share of a selected property in stablecoins, receives tokens that represent that share and later collects the rental income as dividends. For this to work, the platform had to combine identity verification (KYC), agreements that users accept before each purchase, and a reliable link between the web application and smart contracts on the blockchain. The product also kept changing. It started as an investment portal with a map of properties and a board for token owners, then gained its own native token with buying, selling, liquidity pool, staking and governance, and in 2022 grew into a marketplace where token holders vote on collections and properties and join prefunds before a purchase. Along the way the platform moved from Ethereum test networks to another public blockchain and then to EVM networks with MetaMask, so the backend and frontend had to adapt to each change without starting from scratch.
I integrated the Smart Contract with the backend side of the project. Using blockchain technology for digitizing real estate demanded great efforts.

The platform was released in a beta version and then developed in monthly iterations. EMBIQ delivered the investment portal and owners' board, the native token page and, in 2022, the marketplace with collection votes, prefunds, a personal collection view and governance polls. One Django backend served all of these stages, with a dedicated Web3 service for smart contract calls and automated deployment of prefund contracts, while the Angular frontend moved from a chain-specific wallet to MetaMask. Quality was covered by manual and automated tests, API tests and a nightly API test job, run against separate demo and test environments on AWS with CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins. Sentry error monitoring was connected to the platform to catch problems early. After the main development phase EMBIQ continued to help with the infrastructure, including a data migration to a new AWS account in 2025.
We managed to deliver a safe and intuitive platform, not to forget innovative. The user pays with USDT and buys shares in real estate in exchange for tokens. All transactions are based on blockchain (distributed information system).
